Hi, I'm Serge

I build websites and web apps for a living

HTML, CSS, and JavaScript are my main tools. I use them to ship sites that work and don't fall apart six months later.

Serge Manvelov - Fullstack Web Developer

Who am I?

I'm a fullstack web developer. I build responsive sites and web apps with real backends behind them, and that's the part of the work I like most. I also teach frontend to beginners, both teens and adults. Watching someone get their first webpage running never really gets old.

Can you develop Telegram bots?
Yes. I built one in Node.js that talks to the TRX API. The project is under NDA, so I can't show the code, but I'm happy to walk you through how it works and what a bot could do for you.
Have you worked on website redesign projects?
Yes. One was a SaaS platform. I worked with a designer to rebuild the interface from the old version into something cleaner and easier to use. You can compare the original design with the new one. I've done a few others too, including this financial services site and the Habitses app site.
Can you build a database-driven website with an admin panel?
Yes, that's a big part of what I do. A recent example is a multilingual currency exchange platform. It runs on Node.js and React with MongoDB behind it, and the admin panel lets staff manage content and update exchange rates on the fly. If your site changes often or runs on live data, this is the kind of setup that fits.
How proficient are you with React?
I use it regularly and I'm still leveling up. Right now I'm working through Josh W Comeau's Joy of React course, which digs into the harder parts of the framework. It's already changed how I structure components and handle state.

What I work with

The tools I reach for on most projects:

  • HTML5
  • Accessibility
  • CSS3
  • SCSS
  • Tailwind
  • Flexbox
  • Grid
  • JavaScript
  • React
  • Node.js
  • MongoDB
  • Git
  • RESTful APIs

Things I've built

Side projects from my own time. A few I'm fond of:

  • BrowseRating

A NextJS website that compares browser performance using the Speedometer 3.1 benchmark on identical hardware. Currently has over 160 stars on GitHub.

  • SafeTarot

A tarot and guidance app. You pick an AI fortune-teller persona, upload photos of your cards, and get readings that respond to your question and your mood.

  • Blackout

A silent sleep aid for couples. It eases you to sleep with very dim, slowly shifting text prompts (I call them "micro-dream cues") and a little calm visual. No sound, no signup, no scrolling. The player just fades out as you drift off, so the person next to you stays asleep.

  • Binas

A Node.js real estate analyzer for Tbilisi. It scrapes Georgia's biggest property listing site, sorts the data, and works out what the average flat actually costs.

  • Celsiheit

A small React app that shows how Celsius and Fahrenheit line up. Handy for a quick conversion, or for teaching the idea.

  • 5mdt Noise Generator

Visual noise made with nothing but HTML and CSS. It works on both mobile and desktop, mostly as a demo of how far CSS alone can go.

  • Awesome Kagi CSS

A collection of custom CSS themes for the Kagi search engine, with screenshots and setup guides. Over 45 stars on GitHub.
